About Elemental
Elemental is a multi-disciplinary firm dedicated to the delivery and on-going residual risk management of climate-resilient projects in remote locations throughout North America and the Caribbean. We specialize in complex challenging projects that require a comprehensive approach to the economics of climate resilience for both new builds and reconstruction and recovery efforts.
We maintain Regional Co-ordination Centers in North America (New York, USA), Europe (London, UK) and Australasia (Perth, WA) and Regional Manufacturing Facilities in North America (North Carolina) and the Caribbean (Costa Rica). Our base production capacity exceeds 100,000 sqft of built form per annum.
Our approach is based on a proprietary methodology, which reconciles a Climate Resilient Framework to the three phases of the facility lifecycle – development, execution and monitoring. We specialize in resilience linked finance, insurance and hybrid management instruments, providing both traditional ownership and leasing options for built form assets including utility services infrastructure.

Our Services

Project Development
A series of concurrent multi-disciplinary linear processes from project inception to construction approval, spread across the first two project life-cycle stages – Initiation and Planning. Core processes include Structuring (incorporating funding and insurance), Planning + Approvals, Architecture, Circularity and Engineering.

Project Execution
The full suite of General Contractor permitted processes from construction commencement to facility commissioning, spread across the final two project lifecycle stages – Implementation and Benefits Transfer. Core processes include Construction Planning, Off-site Manufacturing, Logistics, On-site Manufacturing and Commissioning.

Project Monitoring
An ongoing series of circular processes over the life of the facility, incorporating the provision of utility services, climatic condition and performance monitoring, through to incident management of climate disaster events. These processes correspond with the two distinct modes of operating conditions, ie, Normal and a Climate Disaster Event.
Our Approach

The Elemental Way
We refer to our approach, or the way we do things, as the “Elemental Way”. It is a unique and innovative way of going about our business that has been developed over eight years of research, development, testing and refinement. It is a global solution for a global challenge, which we describe by de-constructing it down into three elements: Why, What and How, or “Our Culture”, “Our Typology”, and “Our System”.
1. Our CULTURE is a reflection of our value system, which emphasises a circular philosophy that draws heavily on indigenous and ecological themes of interdependence and impermanence. It is where and how we see ourselves as fitting within the world as global citizens.
2. Our TYPOLOGY comprises all the things we do to create and maintain environments and spaces where the customer of the end product consistently feels a certain way, i.e., an elevated sensory experience within a feeling of safety and security - based largely on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. The two foundational disciplines we rely on to achieve this are industry-leading climate resilient design that incorporates kinetic architecture, and a deep understanding of the psychology underpinning aesthetic design.
3. We refer to our SYSTEM as Integrated Resilience Project Delivery, or IRPD, which is an integrated series of three stages – two linear (Development + Execution) and one circular (Monitoring), that uses a single management system of people, processes and equipment. It is how we are organized according to a three-level system, whereby the first level is uniform across all stages and projects, the second level is uniform to each stage independent of the project, and the third level is tailored specifically to each project and location.
